- Download, install and run the QuickBooks File Doctor. If the tool finds any data/file damage and is not able to repair it, you then have two options:
- Firstly you need to restore a recently backed up company file.
Now, restore all of your data using ADR (Auto Data Recovery)

Either a web-based or a cloud-based software allows the designer to continually upgrade the product without the customers having to download or buy the upgrades. The software provider hosts the data for safety of your data so in web based software you will not be able to store data locally like a company file.
Solution 2: open a sample company file
- By opening a sample company file, you can figure out whether the problem is with the company file or the QuickBooks Application. If the sample company file does not open and it prompts an error, that means there is an issue with the QuickBooks installation and needs immediate repair.
- Click and open the sample company file button which is in the No Company Open window and now you can choose any from the list of sample company files.
If the sample company file opens, issue is resolved; if not you can proceed to the next solution.
Solution 3: copy the QuickBooks file on the desktop
Open the company file folder.
Now look for the fie with .Qbw extension.
Select and copy the file.
Now, go back to the desktop and paste the file there.
While holding down the control key, open QB, so that you get directed back to the No company open window.
Now, click Open or Restore an Existing company file. Go to the desktop and find the file that you just copied.
